(Remains of) which this statement rests, it is
as follows, his Father ie Thos Brewiss
was told by an old man of the name
of Mackworth that he had heard
his Grandfather say that inAD 1689
he had been at the pulling down
of Eshott Castle ie this place
and that its stones were used
in the erection of the present
Eshott Hall. Thos Brewis further
informed me that it is mentioned
in connection with Warkworth
Castle in Mackenzies History of
this County – its date of
erection is unknown but most
probably is about the same as
Warkworth Castle AD 1158.
