"The Camps" or "Nightfolds" says Dr Bruce in his history of the Roman Wall – worth mention connected within those camlike
"Their position is as usual indicated by the peculiar greenness of the sward," enclosures. they are "Ancient British
"The Walls are about 3 feet thick & are composed of Roman stones tolerably Remains." Dr Bruce "& Mr Maclauchlan"
regularly disposed but appearantly without Mortar. The Stones however are Wallstones Memoirs of the Roman Wall
not Station-stones & may have been stolen from the wall Murus in Mediaeval times
I am disposed to think the Romans have originally occupied this site as a lookout
post but that the present ruins are of later date"
CAMP Camp Mr Maclauchlan’s Memoirs of 73 Chains S. W of A small nearly square portion of ground
(Remains of) of the Roman Wall Hazeldean the cam like mound that Surround it,
Camp Joseph Farrless Esqr is all that remain of a Roman Camp:
Camp W. Dodd Esqr Riding Hexham it is overgrown with grass and no further
information can be obtained referring to it
either on the ground or in History
