CAMP Camp Mr Coulson 9 Chains N.W. A faint trace of an earthen
(Remains of) Grindstone Law of Grindstone Law rampart on the Summit of
Hexham Grindstone Law, it is Pasture land
Camp Robert Gibson Esqr & nothing else is discernable; to the
Hexham South is a small Circular elevation
agent &c which has been exhumed by Mr
Camp Mr Farrless Coulson the proprietor a small heap
Hexham of stones was first come out and under
them lay a large flat stone, which
covered human remains: they
was apparently interred in a the sepulchre
which has been hewn out of the solid rock
Whether it be an Ancient British or
a Roman Camp is not known &
whether the circular sepulchre be a
Tumulus or Druidic place of sacrifice
is also doubtful if I receive any
more information it will be forwarded
