St Cuthberts Chapel a voyage down the River Tweed and
(Ruins of) here disembarked. This Chapel is
situate on a piece of land at the
junction of the Rivers Tweed and
Till, and does not present the appear-
ance of great antiquity the walls and
roof having been plastered and slated
with modern looking blue slates.
St Cuthberts Well St Cuthberts Well Captn Blake On Sheet A fine natural spring on the
Mr Tait, Farmer 9.4 bank of the River till at a
Stephen Smith short distance from the Chapel
bearing the same name, it is said
to have beena holy well also dedica-
ted to St. Cuthbert. It now supplies
a cattle trough with water, although
partially drained off.
Twizell Twisel Captn Blake On Sheet A cluster of buildings about 1/2
Stephen Smith 9.4 a mile eastward from Twisel Castle
Northumberland Directory it was originally a farm house and
stead but is now divided into
Twizell – Name List of the Parish See Page 29 small tenements and inhabited
by poor working people.
It belongs to Sir F. Blake Bart.
