New Heaton New Heaton Revd Saml Tyler On Sheet A extensive farm house and offices
Mr Gray, Old Heaton 9.12 standing in the midst of a large
Tithe Maps arable farm about 3 miles from the
village of Cornhill. it is the property of
the Earl of Tankerville, Chillingham Castle.
Marldown Marldown Revd Saml Tyler On Sheet A nicely built and well situated
John Collingwood Esqr 9.12 farm house and steading about 1 1/2 miles
Mr Nevins, Tenant easterly from the village of Cornhill. it was
on the grounds belonging to this farm where
once stood the well described in the poem of
Marmion as Sibill Grey’s Well. its local
name previous to the publication of the poem
was Shieldlaw Well. Since it has been called
variously Marmion’s and Sibill’s Well it is
now entirely defaced and drained away
in the process of cultivation.
Marldown Cover Marldown Cover Mr Nevins, Marldown On Sheet A well known Fox Cover frequently resorted
Mr William Robson 9.12 to during the hunting season in pursuit
Mr Thomas Wake of Foxes. it is the property of J. Collingwood
Esqr of Cornhill House and is situated
on the farm of Marldown from which it is named.
