Mr William Embleton 6.2 & in "Shoreswood Bog" flowing in a
Mr James Nicholson, Thornton 6.6 northerly direction and empty itself
into Horncliffemill Burn a
short distance south of Horncliffe
Mill. It forms a Township bdy
for the greater part of its course.
It is said that the Hospital
belonging to Norham Castle stood
contiguous to this stream and
there were to two stone coffins
discovered in a small plantation
on the south side of the road
at Spittalburn Bridge, some
years ago.
Horncliffemill Burn Horncliffemill Burn Mr Ralph Cleghorn On sheet A small stream, having its source in
Mr William Embleton 6.2 & "Thornton Bog" but it does not take this
Mr James Nicholson, Thornton 6.3 name till after passing the Railway
west of Velvet Hall, after which it
passes through "Slateford Bridge".
receives the water of Spittal Burn
passes through a deep wooded ravine,
works Horncliffe Mill in its course and discharges
itself into the Tweed west of Horncliffe Village.
