Shotton Hill Shotton Hill Mr. A. Thompson On Sheet A considerable eminence immediately
Mr. J. Thompson 18. 3 South of Shotton and on that farm
Mr. Thos Tait hence the name, it has a small fir
wood on its S.W. brow and is arable on
the E. to the top, & Rough pasture on the W.
Camps (remains of) Mr. Alexr Thompson These are the remains of two ancient
Mr. A. Black Camps of small size on the farm of
Mr. J. Hall Butterstone Shank (trace 5.) they are so
placed as to preclude the possibility of
their having been defensive, and are supposed
like most of the small camps in this neighbor-
hood to have been residencies.
From the appearance & situation
of these enclosures, the fact of their
having been Camps is very doubtful
the name is therefore omitted.
Butterstone Shank Butterstone Shank Mr. Alexr Thompson On Sheet A farm house & offices, now used as a duplicate
Mr. J. Hall 18. 3 house, it stands in a high position on a
Estate Map Spur shooting out from the N.E face of
Coldsmouth Hill.
