Great Waney Crag Mr Thompson About 8 Chains rocks known by the name of the
Great Waney Crag Mr Turnbull S.W. of Waney Byre Waney Crags. Great Waney runs
Great Waney Crag Hodgsons Hist. Northd E & W beginning very small at the E.
& gradually growing larger towards
the W. until they come to the boundary of
the parish where they end, & are of an enormous size.
Waney Byre Waney Byre Mr Thompson About 8 Chains A long cleft or chasm which extends along
Waney Byre Mr Turnbull N.E. of Camp the front of the rock for a considerable
Waney Byre Mr Thornton distance. It has, apparently been formed
the Waney byre Hodgsons Hist. Northd by portions of the rock falling slightly
forward. the entrances are now all closed
by the shepherd. Mr Hodgson says that
probably from some account or tradition
of its having been occupied as a den for
wild beasts that the name is derived
