History of Northumberland 24. 12 rude, rough stones, a little W.
Mr. Gibson of Threestone Burn. Supposed to
Druidical Monument Hutchinson’s View of be the remains [of] a Druidical Temple
Northumberland Vol. 1 "A little to the North of Hedgehope,
P. 236. near the Three Stone Burn, is a
Druidical Temple Grose’s Antiquities Druidical Monument, now constructed
Vol. IV. P. 30 of ten large stones, in a circular
Druidical Temple Whites Directory form, from East to West 38 yards
Vol. II P. 478. in diameter, & 33 yards from North
Druidical Remains adopted to South. Several of the Stones were
thrown down, & some are so sunk
in the Earth, that the original
number cannot be ascertained.
There are three larger than the rest,
which I presume gave the present
name to the Burn near which
this Monument stands."
