Railway, was being made –
and are now Converted into
dwellings, this name was given
to this place, by one of its first
inhabitants, hence still retains
the name.
Cockley Burn Cockley Burn John Grey Esqr. on Sheet This is a small portion of
Mr Edward Pringle 7.2 "Doupster Burn", extending from
Mr James Dixon the township road, at the northeast
end of "Pen Fold", to where it is lost
in the sand, on the sea shore;
the sand at this place was a fam[ous]
spot, for Cockles, there, are not,
any, in it, now – hence its name
