Lime Works Lime Works Mr Nicol, Tenant on sheet About one mile north of the town close
Lime Works Mr Stamp, Schoolmaster 12.2 to the Snook are five large kilns and
Lime Works Mr Wilson, Holy Island nine smaller kind, called "Low Kilns"
for lime burning, and having
leading from them to different parts
of the Coast and to the jetty beside
the town where considerable quantities
are shipped to Scotland &c – great dif
ficulty is encountered in quarrying the
stone as there they are merely surface rock, and
that between high and low water marks;
there are also two houses for the work
men, and a smithy, stables etc beside
the works, which belong to the
Crown lands, and rented by
J Nicol Esq of Dundee &c.
