Shell Road Shell Road Mr R Stamp, Schoolmaster on sheets The narrow part of The Snook about 1/4th of a
Shell Road Mr R Wilson, Harbourmaster 12.1 & mile west of the Limeworks, about 15 chains long,
Shell Road Mr W Smith, Fisherman 12.2 and 5 chains broad, through which the sea at one time
had broke, and composed of sand, shingle and
bents, is called "Shell Road" from the quantity
of small shells found in the shingle, and it
connecting the east and west portions of The Snook.
Sand Ridge Sand Ridge Mr R Stamp on sheets A ridge of sand extending by a line N.W.
Sand Ridge Mr R Wilson 7.12 from "Snook Pt" to "Swinney Gut" and along
Sand Ridge Mr W Smith 7.16 the gut to low water mark, from which point
8.9 to the rocks about 2 1/2 miles S E opposite two
8.13 fishing shiels, it applies to all sand between
8.14 L.W.M. and The Snook. At one period the
12.1 & sands here rose about a dozen feet higher
12.2 than the surrounding sands and were barely covered
at high water, owing howver to the quickening tides
it is now less remarkable and little higher than
the neighbouring sands west of the Gut.
