The Spital Mr. Wm Charlton it occupies the site of an ancient
(Site of St Giles Hospital) Hospital dedicated to St Giles which
Anterior to the Reformation belonged
to the Abbey at Hexham but at that
period both Abbey and Hospital were
destroyed and of the latter no vestige
now remains. –
Priests Seat Priest’s Seat Mr. John Headley About 8 Chains East A commanding eminence on the south
Priest’s Seat Mr. Joseph Pratt of The Spital bank of the River Tyne from where an

the name from having formerly been
a favourite resort of the inhabitants
of St Giles’ Hospital, at present
it is much frequented by the
inhabitants of the town of Hexham

erected.
