				a square Castellated tower at the North
				east end & two short walls at the
				farm house, the remainder appears to
				be modern, there are no signs of a
				ditch, there are various modes of spelling
				this name but the mode adopted appears
				to be best, the meaning of the word is
				probably is William’s Town on the
				Mount or Hill as it is on a gentle
				eminence overlooking the Stream.

	antiently the seat of the Ridley family; here was born the
	Nicholas Ridley the celebrated prelate & martyr ~~and~~ who was
	burnt at Oxford in 1555 being condemned for heresy by
	the arbitrary Court of the bigotted and cruel Queen Mary"
