(Remains of) (Remains of) Rapishaw Gap of nearly five acres, it gently slopes to the South,
Borcovicus McLauchlan’s Memoir its form is a parallelogram with rounded corners
(Remains of) its present remains consist of portions of its Gateway
Borcovicus Mr Thompson Tow Houses exterior Walls and various a Bath &c. &c.
(Remains of) nothing of the Station is shewn on the Plan except
the remains of Masonry altho there are numerous
Grassy Mounds &c. covering the whole area of the
Station and only requiring to be uncovered and the
Rubbish taken away to bring to light many
more buildings
ROMAN WALL Roman Wall Mr Thompson Tow Houses East & West of A work of the Ancient Romans consisting
(Remains of) (Site of) (Remains of Site of) Rapishaw Gap of a Wall which originally averaged
Roman Wall Mr Armstrong Hotbank 12 feet in height and 8 feet thick
(Remains of Site of) it was defended by an artificial Fosse
Roman Wall Mr Dryden Kennels to its north except in places where it was
(Remains of Site of) naturally defended by steep banks or
Roman Wall McLauchlans Survey of Roman Wall Crags: its present remains in this Parish
(Remains of Site of) are very good especially between Borcovicus
Roman Wall Bruce’s Roman Wall & Hotbank where it is its original width
(Remains of Site of) & averages 4 feet high with its facing Stones
&c. perfect. John Clayton Esqr. the owner
of this portion takes great care that all
its lines &c. are preserved.
