fissured, and shewing several tops at high water
and at the N.E where it is boldest, dips west
with a rough surface, partly strewn with boulders.

Swedman Mr G Tate, Alnwick of Megstone sea rocks’ – extending half a mile west from
Swedman Raine’s History of N. Durham On Sheet Megstone, four of them being visible at
Swadman o.m.o. Admiralty Chart of 1857 12a C Low Spring tides, and the reef indicated
Swadman Admiralty N. Sea Pilot 1858 by sea tangle floating above it; at its
western extremity there is a black nun
Swadman adopted buoy, to mark the passage between it
and the mainland for vessels of burden.
