School School Whellan’s Directory On Sheet This is, an old established Parish
(Embleton) Mr. George Trotter, Teacher 27.3 School, but the present building
Mr. George Mavin – was erected in 1825, and which
" is a small plain structure –
It is endowed with 8 1/2 acres of
land, bequeathed by a former
Vicar of Embleton, for the education
of poor children – belonging to the
parish, and which who are taught
Reading, Writing and accounts arithmetic –
and mechanics as well as instructed in the
Catechism &c. It is a mixed School
and the average attendance is
about 50 – It is entirely under
the control of the Vicar for the
time being, and the School
master is appointed by him
Scadpallet Scadpallet Mr. Ralph Pringle On Sheet A small flat rock, a short distance
Mr. James Blair 27.3 northeast of "Jenny Bell’s Carr", the
Mr. James Patterson origin of this name is unknown
therefore, the orthography doubtful –
but it is, a well known rock
