chiefs, or persons of renown, in ancient times. The stones of the Cairn were led
off about 18, or 20. years ago for the purpose of building the walls of a
Plantation in its own immediate neighbourhood. The removal of the stones
brought to light three large rough undressed stones, laid upon the ground
in form of grave stones. When these were removed, there appeared three cavities
in form of graves, the largest about 3 feet long, 1 foot broad, & 2 feet in depth.
Each of these graves contained a quantity of human bones. It is supposed
that this Cairn was erected by the Danes.
