British Camp British Camp Mr. Coulson 52 Chains South The remains of an ancient British
(Remains of) British Camp Mr. Nichol of High Bellshield Camp, Situated on Birdhope Moor.
British Camp Mr. McLauchlan’s This Camp, or habitation, Consists of
(Memoirs of Watling Street) the remains of Several dwellings, the
outlines of which are marked with
east on a Small eminence, Situated on Woolaw Moor, is the remains of a Small entrenchment,
as a sort of lookout or advanced post. Some excavations have been made here at the
instigation of members of the Antiquarian Society, and flat stones discovered about the Centre of
the dwelling, Covered over with ashes and cinders, having the appearance of a fire place.
Two Stones have also been dug out having a hole in the centre of each about 6 inches in diameter
and 5 inches deep. These stones are at present at Woolaw Farm house.
