Camp British Camp Mr Heron 20 Chains SW The remains of a British Camp
Remains of British Camp Mr Hedley of Colwell Hill situated on the Summit of a Small
British Camp Hodgson’s History Hill North of overacres well known
as Camp Hill. This Camp is a
regular circular figuerre & was
defended by a double breast work,
there are two gateways to it one on
the North East & the other on the South
West Sides. Hodgson in Speaking of
this Camp States that it produced a Spear head of flint in testimony of its
British origin.
Camp British Camp Mr Heron 76 Chains W. Of The remains of a British Camp
(Remains of) British Camp Mr Hedley Colwell Hill Situated on a Small Hill Known as
British Camp Hodgson’s History Fawdon Hill. This Camp is partly
on the ground of Monkridge and
partly on that of Girsonsfield This Camp is a Circular figuerre & defended by a Single
line of breastwork with a gateway on the South Side. It Commands an extensive View
of the Valley of the Rede & along the lines of Watling Street from the Roman Station
at Risingham to that of Bremenium.
