From enquiries made respecting the above two of the village of North Charlton
objects no information Can be obtained respecting It is scarcely visable above the
the Castle – In the 5th Volume of Hodgon’s Northumberland Surface – Although it is af
page 26. a List (made about 1460) is given of all the -firmed that this was a
Castle and Towers in Northumberland, but, church, I have great doubts
altho 37 Castles, and 78 Towers are enumerated, respecting it’s being such
there is no mention of North Charlton- as I have never Seen a buil
It is a matter of History & beyond doubt, that there -ding of that description
was a Chapel at North Charlton, but its position is doubtful – Standing so much off the
East And West, as was.
