Roman Road Roman Road Continued no stationary Camps on the
(Devil’s Causeway) (Devil’s Causeway) road, there can be little
(Site of) (Site of) doubt as to its antiquity –
It must be classed as one
of the earliest of the Roman ways, and by it, in all
probability, the Army of Agricola, which acted along
with his Fleets, marched to the Forth, in the campaign
directed against the People to the north of that
Frith [sic]. A D 79 – There is a small branch leading from
the main road eastwardly towards the Camp at Crawley Tower
to which it originally extended –
