River Till River Till County Map On Sheets The source of the Till is in the Parish
Mr. Thomas Smith, Newton 25.3 & of Whittingham (detd) at a place called
A.J.B. Cresswell Esq. East Lilburn 25.7 Breamish Head – & known by the
& Old Bewick – name of the River Breamish from
this point down to Bewick Bridge –
– for a description of which see P.20 –
The Breamish assumes the name of
the "Till" at Bewick Bridge, from
which it proceeds in a Northerly
direction to "West Lyham", at this point it turns westward
for about 4 miles, to near "Westwood Hall", where it receives
the Wooler Water. It then proceeds in a general N.W. direction
for about 2 miles, where it receives the water of the "River
Glen", which river is formed by the united streams of the
"Bowmont Water" & the "College Burn", from this point it
continues in the same general direction pas[t] Ford,
W. Beatty
