Holy Stone Holystone Thomas John Taylor Esqr About 3 Chains The name is given to a plain Square
Holystone Hugh Taylor Esqr S of Holystone Stone with a Circular hole in the
Holystone Mr Turner Farm Centre It was overgrown with grass
until recently the Duke of Northumberland
accompanied by his agent H Taylor Esqr
went to inspect it & caused the grass to be
removed I could not get any information
either historical or traditional in connection
with its origin I have seen an old mural
Sculpture built in the wall of a byer belonging
to the Farm Ho. with the a face cut out &
underneath a heart which was surmounted
with a Cross This perhaps one time formed part
of the Stone
"This is, probably part of an ancient stone cross"
