Corchester Corchester Mr Thos Blanford 27 chains West Site of a Roman Camp, there are
CORSTOPITUM (Roman Camp) of Prior Manor but faint traces at present visible,
(Site of) Corchester Mr Joseph Green but the nature of the soil plainly
(Roman Camp) indicates where the Camp has been.
Corchester Mr John Henderson Mr Joseph Green farmer of Hillbank
(Roman Camp) states, that he has at different times
Colchester Mr Maclauchlan’s raised portions of the foundations,
(Corstopitum) Survey of Watling Street & used the stones in erecting out offices
Corchester Whellan’s Directory on his farm. Many other ruins of
Corstopitum ancient edifices, have been dug up near
Corchester White’s Directory this station, there has also been a great
Corstopitum many Roman coins & other remains
Corchester Dr Bruce’s Roman Wall found here.

Whoever views the adjoining heap of
ruins called Colchester, will pronounce
it a Roman Station.
