appears to have been artificially
constructed, and defended on
the East side, by the natural
slope of the Valley.
Ox Eye Ox Eye Wm Mole, Shepherd – Shielhope On Sheet A large rock, situated near
Ox Eye John Mole, Shepherd, Shielhope 21.13 Lousy Law (on the Ph boundary).
Ox Eye Edwd Dixon, farmer – N.Sandyford Marked N.T.1859, and said
to have derived the name from
having a number of small
holes in it, which contain water
after rains.
