The dwellings with the exception of the
Farm House are of the humble class
occupied by Feuars or small farmers
it is the property of the Earl of Tanker-
ville.
Wark Revd F Thompson An extensive farm house and
Mr Dove Tenant steading situated at the east
Tithe Maps end of the village, the extent of
land attached amounts to 1300 or
1400 acres and is in the occupancy
of Mr Dove
Wark Castle Wark Castle Revd F Thompson See sheets Little now remains of this ancient
(Remains of) (Ruins Remains of) Mr Dove 9.10 & Fortress excepting a part of the Strong
Mr Davidson 9.14 Tower or keep which presents more the
appearance of a confused mass of rock
than the ruins of a building. The walls
have at one time enclosed almost the
entire site of the present village
