Brinkburn Iron Works Brinkburn Ironworks Mr Robert Richardson About 20 chains W. These Works consists of one smelting furnace
(Disused) Brinkburn Ironworks Mr Thomson of Newhouses a roasting kiln two Engine Houses with boiler seats &
Brinkburn Ironworks Mr Cleugh several workshops and other necessary offices, the whole
is in good repair and is the property of a Joint
Stock Company. The Ironstone which is of a very
superiour quality is found in a mine 40 chains North
of the works here is also a small seam of Coal which is
wrought in conjunction with the Ironstone the mine
is connected with the works by means of an incline
Waggon way but in consequence of the expense of working
the mine and Exporting the metal the works are not
layed of for the worked at present.
