Devil’s Causeway The Devil’s Causeway Mr. Leighton Thistlyhaugh of Brinkheugh Road called Watling Street. Entering
ROMAN ROAD The Devil’s Causeway Mr. Stoker Brinkheugh No trace of a Bridge this parish a little east of Brinkburn
(Remains of) Can be found where this Priory by crossing the River Coquet where
Road Crosses the River it soon after takes a turn to the west
Coquet. It is supposed and going in a straight line untill it enters
that the River has the parish of Felton. No remains are visible
Changed its Course in this parish the site only being known
since the road was in
use.

Tumulus Tumulus Mc Laughlin’s Plan 40 Chains ESE of The remains of a large pile of
(Remains of) Tumulus Remains of Mr Leighton Brinkheugh stones which when they were excavated
Tumulus Mr Stoker descovered several large flat stones but
no human remains trinkets or other reli[cs]
It is most probibly Roman, being situated
close to the site of the Roman Road
