Bellingham Castle Bellingham Castle Revd. R. P. Powel About 15 chains N E This is the place tradition informs us wher the ancient
(site of) Bellingham Castle W.H. Charlton Esqr of St Cuthberts Church Family called de Bellingham had their seat or Castle
Bellingham Castle (site of) Francis Charlton Esqr. it is now entirely destroyed and nothing remains but
"The town of Bellingham anciently belonged to the Lords a remarkable eminence or artificial mound of earth
of Barons of Bellingham, who had a seat or Castle here, on to mark the spot where the ancient castle stood nothing
the eminence which still bears the name of Hallfield" remains of this family but the name and it is not
Whites Directory Vol 1 ascertained at what period they parted with their lands
at Bellingham. The De Bellinghams are now represented by
an Irish baronet. There is are no visible remains of this
castle visible on the ground
River North Tyne River North Tyne Revd. Robt P. Powel About 5 chains S of A large and important river rising at a
River North Tyne W.H. Charlton Esqr St Cuthberts Church place called Tyne Head above I Keilder and
River North Tyne Francis Charlton Esqr takes a winding direction through numerous
fertile plains and wooded slopes receiving
numerous important tributaries throughout
its course untill it forms a junction with
the River South Tyne about a mile west
of Hexham
