Reeds School Mr. Allen Church ground attached. This school was founded
in the year 1730 by Miss Isabella Reed who
bequeathed the sum of £200 with which the
trustees of the charity were to purchase land
whose rent was to be devoted to the gratuitous
education of 50 poor children in reading writing
arithmetic and the Church of England catechism
Her Brother subsequently gave the school house
and Masters residence these old buildings have
have been taken down and the present buildings erected on
the same sightte. The money required for this purpose [was]
obtained by private donantions and a grant from the Council of Education, the school
is open to children of every denomination and subject to government inspection which
entitle the Master to a small sum annually depending on the quality of the
certificate he holds The Rector and Church wardens for the time being are the sole
trustees they have the nomination of the poor schollars appointment of Master &
At present only ten children are taught free, the funds being insufficient to carry
out the wish scheme prescribed by the will of foundress, the average attendance is about
