St Cuthbert’s Church Mr. Smith burned down in the Border forays and
subsequently restored and provided with a
circular arched stone roof of peculiar
workmanship. It was formerly a chapelry
in the great Parish of Simon Burn. The living
is now a Rectory in the archdeaconry of Northumber-
land and deanery of Bellingham and is in the
patronage of the Commissioners of Greenwich
