Pottergate Tower Francis Holland Esq of the Infant School of an ancient Gate of the Town Wall It contains
Pottergate Tower Mr Thompson a large Clock with the dial on the East side On
Potter Gate Ordnance Survey Map in 1851 one side of the dial is a sculpture of St Michael and
the Dragon, the insignia of the Borough, and on
the other is the following inscription:-
This Tower was rebuilt at the expense of the Borough
of Alnwick, And the foundation stone laid April
28th A.D. 1768 John Grey }

Infant School Infant School George Tate Esq About 2 chains SE A neat stone edifice the property of the Borough
Infant School J. Holland Esq of Pottergate Tower of Alnwick it was formerly used as the Borough
Infant School Mr Thompson School but is now used as an Infant School and
wholly under the control of the National Board
of Education and the Incumbent of St Michaels
Church for the time being The school has no
endowment but may be considered a branch of
National near to which it is situated
