The Early English "turris de Schilbotell" now incor- |
porated with the vicarage house at Shilbottel, is in course |
of restoration. This ancient fabric is one of the earliest |
peles in Northumberland. It is a quadrangular tower |
built on the scalp of a rock, cropping out of the surface |
