Mr. W. Allan 13. 15 Paston to Yetholm so called, it
Mr. T. Tait takes name from its situation, being
W. of the hill of same name.
Hare Law Hare Law Mr. A. Thompson On Sheet A considerable eminence South of
Mr. T. Tait 13. 15 Paston Lake, said in the Directory to
Mr. J. Tait have "an entrenchment with double rampart
& fosse", which is evidently a mistake, as
no trace of which exists. Probably Paston
Hill has been mistaken for Harelaw.
Whaup Moor Whaup Moor Mr. A. Borthwick On Sheet A low ridge of land on Kilham estate
Mr. W. Scott 13. 15 so called, the name is taken from the
Mr. T. Tait bird of the same name usually frequenting
Whaup – A curlew Jamiesons Scottish} the ground – it is now partly arable and
